Parks, Lakes and Ranges

Talihina Oklahoma features two public parks, two lakes, and one out of town firing range. Kiamichi valley is an area that holds many state parks, lakes, rivers and creeks but this page is dedicated to the immediate Talihina area. Read below to find some things you may or may not know about!


Clayton Lake State Park

US-271, Clayton, OK

Clayton Lake State Park is a 510-acre Oklahoma state park located in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, 5 miles south of Clayton, Oklahoma



Jess Harper Park

2nd Street & Knebel, Talihina, Oklahoma

The park is named after Jess Harper, who served the State of Oklahoma in elected and appointed positions from 1917 to 1958. The park has a baseball field, and a community swimming pool. A fenced in area has playground equipment, a picnic pavilion and fire pits. The sign does not show open hours and states “Open to the general public at all times.”

Kiamichi Shooting Range

From Talihina, go 3.5 mi north on Highway 271 to Frazier Creek Road, turn right (east) and go 3 mi to cross-road, turn left (north) on FS 6132, for 1.25 mi

Open year round, sun up to sun down, this 110 yard range features shooting benches and a gorgeous view. It has been a community hot spot for years and features spent casings from just about every gun imaginable from 22mmLR to 50 BMG.



Lake Carl Albert

Carl Albert Lake Rd, Talihina, OK

Carl Albert Lake offers 183 surface acres and four miles of shoreline in beautiful Talihina. Facilities at Carl Albert Lake include a boat ramp, fishing dock, picnic area, outdoor grills, and the Kiamichi Baptist Association.

Lake Talihina

Lake Talihina, Talihina, OK

Often forgotten or mistaken as Carl Albert lake, Lake Talihina is 24 acres and features a historic dam, abandoned water purification center and several other structures that were once integral to providing water to the city below.

Lake Wister State Park

Lake Wister State Park is a 3,428-acre Oklahoma state park located in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. It is located near the city of Wister, Oklahoma. Lake Wister State Park, in southeast Oklahoma, is a gateway to the beautiful Ouachita National Forest. The park includes 7,300-acre Lake Wister with five camping areas.



Robbers’ Cave State Park

4575 Northwest 1024th Ave, Wilburton, OK 

Robbers Cave State Park is a state park in Latimer County, Oklahoma. It is located 5 miles north of Wilburton, Oklahoma, on State Highway 2. Originally named Latimer State Park, it received its current name in 1936. It is located in the scenic, hilly woodlands of the Sans Bois Mountains of southeast Oklahoma. 



Talimena State Park

Talimena State Park is an Oklahoma state park located in LeFlore County in eastern Oklahoma. The 20 acres park is at the Oklahoma entrance to Talimena Scenic Drive, about 7 miles north of Talihina, Oklahoma. and 20 miles south of Wister. It offers opportunities for camping, hiking, biking, and wildlife watching.
