Talihina, Oklahoma, embraces its flaws highlighted in the Kings of Leon’s hidden track “Talihina Sky,” which reflects the town’s struggles with addiction and a desire for escape. Despite a population decline and challenges, community initiatives have emerged to address substance abuse and youth development, fostering a complex relationship with its identity.
Formerly located in Talihina, Oklahoma, Tushkalusa Academy was Choctaw Nation’s Freedmen Academy.
This article examines the history of the students and staff associated with the structure.
